Two Digits!

In months, that is. Caleb is 10 months old! Things are pretty much the same with him, except for a few things:

  • He decided he does not like applesauce and peaches, afterall. But, we tried squash again and he ate a whole jar!

  • He can play peek-a-boo by himself! Last night he was pulling a blanket in front of his face and when I said, "where's Caleb?" he pulled it down quickly and had a big grin on his face. I got a video of it, but it's on the video camera, not the digital. I'm not sure if I can get it on the computer.

  • We think he may have an allergy to vinegar, or whatever else is in salt and vinegar potato chips. A couple weeks ago we let him lick on a chip and a short while afterwards, his top lip started to puff up. It kept puffing up for a while and he was really uncomfortable, but after an hour or so it started to go down. Weird!
  • Good news, though: his eczema looks better than ever. He still has itchiness sometimes, but the rash itself is the best it has looked since he first developed it when he was 3 months old. Yay!

  • He can sign "more" and "eat" and he knows what we mean when we say and sign "drink" to him. He also recognizes all of our names. Every time, when I say "where's Laura Anne?" he looks right at her. He does the same for Daddy and Mommy as well!

A Barbie Party

We promised Laura Anne she'd get her Barbie birthday party and January 24th was the earliest we could manage to schedule it. We had it at Chick-fil-A (did you expect anything else??). Everything turned out really nice and Laura Anne had a great time with 7 of her friends!

Sofie and Jessalyn:
Pile-up in the slide. I think there ended up being six kids that came out of the slide at the same time! Jessalyn, Sofie and Laura Anne were at the beginning of the pile-up:
Four of the girls (Sofie, Laura Anne, Blakely and Kaitlyn):
Mmmm, cupcake time!
She was pretty excited to get a Webkinz! Later, I told her it was a hippo and she said, "no Mommy. It's a hippo-come-a-mus". I stand corrected! Laura Anne and Sofia: Best Friends!
Rachel, Blakely and Laura Anne: (Rachel was painting Laura Anne's fingernails)

More Snow Pictures

We couldn't build a snowman, so a snow mountain was the next best thing:

Snow Day!

How exciting! We got somewhere in the neighborhood of 5-6 inches of snow today! This is the most snow we've seen in the 4 1/2 years we've lived here.
Laura Anne just loved being outside. She kept asking if we could make a snowman, but the snow was too soft. It wouldn't stay packed together.
Caleb handled it very well. He just chilled out in Daddy's arms.
I think icycles are so beautiful. These were hanging from our roof.

____ on my mind:

Yes, we went to Chick-fil-A for lunch on our snow day. We are the faithful customers! We met Jerry and Ellen there.

Laughter Lives! Tuesday

Laughter LivesThis post is part of "Laughter Lives! Tuesday" on the Riggs Family Blog. Check our their blog to read everyone else's "Laughter Lives!" posts.

So I was going to post this story anyway, then I came across MckMama's blog (I am addicted to her blog!) and she did this Laughter Lives! thing, so I thought, "what the heck? I'll give it a shot." So here you go, for your own enjoyment, my first Laughter Lives! Tuesday story:

My daughter has this fascination with people's names. She always wants to know everyone's name. She's always asking me, "Mommy, what's her name?" when we're out and about. We were at the Olive Garden a few nights ago and a group of people were seated at a table near us. Laura Anne points her finger in their direction and says, "Mommy, what's her name?" and I said "Sweetie, don't point. It's not polite to point at people." She then points her fist in the direction of the woman in question and says, "Mommy, what's her name?"

Snack Time

Caleb tried a biter biscuit last week. He really seemed to enjoy it...the first day. He will not have another one. So we tried Puffs. He's had those several days now, so I think he likes them.

Fun With The Kids

Here's a new trick. While he can't get up there on his own, if we stand him up next to his toy, he can balance himself!
Silly time with Daddy's hat:
All cute and bundled up in the car:
She told me to take a picture because she was drawing a picture for Caleb:

Big News

I haven't got around to posting much lately. We've been pretty busy. I've been packing a few boxes and going through stuff, trying to get rid of as much as possible. "Why?" you may ask. Well, Chris and I have decided to move back to Florida! Yes, folks, it's true! We will be out of our house here in Raleigh by the end of March. We're hoping to be able to celebrate Caleb's first birthday with our families. Your prayers for a job for Chris and a place for us to live would be greatly appreciated. We are so excited for this new chapter in our marriage and for our kids. All I've ever wanted for them was to be closer to their grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins. It's coming true, finally!
So, besides our house being a wreck, here are some other things we've been up to and some cute pictures.
He looks like a little man!

Caleb started to crawl a while back:

"You put your left foot in..."

"I've got this, Mom"

Okay, what next?

Alright, so he hasn't quite got the hang of it yet.

Drumroll Please...

Caleb's first official word: "uh-oh". Other variations include: "uh", and "uh-uh". What a smart boy we have! ;o)

The Stats

*Updated*

Well, hello! Thanks for popping by! I took the kiddies to the doctor this morning for their 3-year and 9 month well visits. Here are the details:

Laura Anne weighs 34 pounds and is 40 inches tall. She's very healthy and doing great developmentally. Apparently, Chris and I aren't doing so bad raising her so far! What a relief! :o)
She was very talkative to the nurse and doctor. When the nurse came in, she told Laura Anne "you're getting so big!" Laura Anne said "I'm this old" and she held up three fingers. Then she added, "when I grow up and get married, I'm going to have a baby." Ah, she keeps me laughing! :D

Caleb weighs 18 pounds 12 ounces (down from 19 lbs 8 ounces at the hospital almost a month ago). He is 28 1/4 inches long. Although he has been weaned for a couple weeks now, he still has rashes all over his little body so our pediatrician is sending us to a dermatologist at Duke. We'll see them some time around Caleb's first birthday and he said that they do extensive testing so we can figure out what exactly is bothering our baby's not-so-smooth skin. The doc was very pleased with Caleb's fine motor skills despite his skin issues. He said he's advanced in his skills so that was good to hear.

All in all, our kids are healthy and growing and we have much to be thankful for!

Pardon The Dust

...while I'm trying to find the perfect layout and blog header! If the blog looks different every time you return, it's just because I haven't found the perfect combination of trendy and unique. But don't let that stop you from coming back! I will continue posting adorable pictures, like this one:

Not Me! Monday

I am not listening to my 9 month old son cry from his crib. He's plenty old enough to know when it's naptime so there's no reason for him to be pitching a fit.
I have not decided I'm going to run the Gate River Run in March with my mom. Who on earth can run 9 miles without stopping?? Seriously, not me (not yet anyway.)
Because I'm not running the River Run, I did not find a great deal on some Nike running shoes at Kohl's last night. Nope. I did not spend $37 on brand new running shoes.
I did not have a delicious cheese pizza from Papa John's last week. Okay, I can't joke about that. I really did have some cheese pizza and it was SOOOOO good! Well worth the wait. :o)
My son is not asleep now. Thank goodness.

Milestones

So since I wrote the last post, Caleb has accomplished a few new things. First of all, he had a fever a few nights ago of 102 degrees and I thought, "oh no! He's getting sick...again!!" He was extremely irritable for the past three days and had a hard time sleeping. As it turns out, he's getting tooth #4! He acts like the world is coming to an end because a tooth is coming through, but what can you expect from a BOY?!
Also, today he ended up on his hands and knees and he began rocking!! He's soo close to crawling! Yippee!
Caleb learned his first sign last week! He signed "more" to me while he was eating! And he continues to sign it. I have kicked the signing up a notch since then, since he is paying attention!
We had a cute moment at Kohls earlier today. We were looking at socks and Laura Anne asked me if I wanted pink or blue, but when she said "pink" and "blue" she hit the socks. Caleb thought this was hilarious and just went to cackling! It was so funny. I love to hear a baby laugh!
