My Babies

About 3 weeks ago I weighed Caleb here at home. He weighed 18.5 lbs. I was happy to see that weight gain! Well, imagine my surprise when I weighed him last week and the scale read 21.5 lbs! Three pounds in two weeks! What a guy!!

It's no wonder, really, because Caleb eats like a horse. Who would've thought that he was in the hospital less than 2 months ago for malnutrition?!

In the past couple weeks Caleb has been trying more and more "real people" food, like taco soup and beef stew. He scarfed down both! I've also discovered a few new snacks that are Caleb-friendly. I found them at Whole Foods. One is soy yogurt. I got blueberry yogurt for him and he loved it! Another thing that we all enjoy is dried corn. It's seriously such a yummy snack and it's perfect to keep in the diaper bag when we're out and about.

On another note, we've had three visits now from the physical therapist and Caleb is doing awesome! Some of the things we're working on is building his arm strength so he can get into a sitting position from laying down, learning how to pull up to stand, learning how to sit down from standing and of course, learning to crawl. He is on the verge of sitting up, crawling and pulling up. He feels so good these days and he has more energy than ever. Things are about to get really exciting around here! ;o)

Laura Anne is turning into a beautiful little girl. She is quite an independent and strong-willed little thing! Sometimes that's good, and sometimes it's not so good, if you know what I mean! But she is a great big sister and a joy to have around. We've started doing some "schoolwork" during the day. I found this great preschool book at Walmart and she loves playing school. I love watching her learn!

One night recently, Chris prayed over dinner and when he was finished Laura Anne said, "that was a good pray, Daddy."

And just a few days ago, we were at my parent's house and Laura Anne wanted to go get her bathing suit that was hanging up in the bathroom. I knew she couldn't reach it so I was just getting up to go help her when she returned holding her bathing suit! When she was asked how she got it, she responded, "I stood on my tippies."

Why Worry?

Psalm 23:1 "The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want."

Pastor Mac Brunson preached right Chris and I this past Sunday. More on that in a moment. As you all know by now, we are currently living with Chris' grandmother. We have been for almost 3 months now--ever since we moved down from North Carolina. Although we feel so grateful to her for allowing us to interrupt her peaceful life, we have been feeling the pressure to get out. And also, something for which we have been really grateful for--Chris' job--needs to change, too. There are several reasons why he needs a new job but the main one is that he's not making as much as he could (and not nearly as much as he was making at his previous job in NC).

So that starts the circle of uncertainty. He needs a better job. We need to move. We look for a place to move. We realize he needs a new job BEFORE we move. He puts his resume out to several companies. We wait, and try not to worry--to no avail. We get frustrated. We pray...but we still worry.

That brings me to Mac Brunson's message. He preached from that one verse, Psalm 23:1. Here's some of the major points I got from it.

• Knowing God makes worry uncharacteristic of your personal Christian life.

"The Lord is my shepherd..."

-->The shepherd provides for his sheep

-->The shepherd protects his sheep

-->The shepherd guides his sheep

-->The shepherd directs his sheep

• Worry is unnecessary!

John 10:14, 27-30 "I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine." "My sheep hear my voice and I know them, and they follow me: And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand. I and my Father are one."

I am in the hands of Jesus, and God the Father! God knows where we have been and we have not lacked for what we needed. HE is in control! Worry is a control issue brought about by fear. And worry is also a sin. Worrying about the future is unprofitable.

So, why worry?

4th and 6th

Sunday was a special day for two reasons. One, it was my 4th Mother's Day! And these two kids make me so proud to be their mama!

And two, it was mine and Chris' 6th wedding anniversary! Still going strong!

Meatballs

Laura Anne helped me fix dinner one night recently. She loves the hands-on dinners!

This Just In...

Caleb has added peaches, carrots, spaghetti and broccoli to his list of things he eats! Wahoo!

Oh yeah, and the poor kid is cutting two teeth at the same time. That's numbers 7 and 8! He's been a bit on the cranky side today. I hope it doesn't last long, for his sake and mine!
